cautionary tale

this cautionary tale
a carefully woven story
between you and i
and the words we never said

a carefully woven story
between our mingled breaths
and the words we never said
gathered clouds in the night

between our mingled breaths
where silence deeply slumbers
gathered clouds in the night
unseen in the gray light morning

where silence deeply slumbers
here a happy secret lies
unseen in the gray light morning
told in a tangled tounge

here a happy secret lies
between you and i
told in a tangled tounge
this cautionary tale

* “A Pantuom (for those who don’t know) is a poem that uses a four-line stanza in which lines 2 and 4 are carried over, whole, to the next stanza where they become lines 1 and 3. You write new lines 2 and 4 that both fit into the stanza and will be carried over into the next stanza. The poem can be of any length and the final lines 2 and 4 are in fact lines 1 and 3 of the very first stanza. “
